IS BEING DECENT WORTH IT? WHAT DO I STAND TO GAIN?
The simple response to this is that you would want others to be decent towards you. Decency is all about morality, what is right or wrong, and what is deemed good or bad. It's a moral judgment.
Quoting Aristotle, a good man acts into true virtues and derives his happiness and pleasure from that virtue. It's important to consider one's actions in a good and just manner. Decency is the behavior we choose to conform to daily, it's the standard and morality demanded of us.
1EASES COMMUNICATION
Our lives essentially are a series of communication. The familiar phrase, the means is the message, intriguingly puts out the role decency plays in communication. It's a well-underestimated factor in communication.
Masters of sales will tell you how customer satisfaction is of the essence. What tells us to an extent is the degree of decency employed determines whether someone is buying it or not. They are masters of building trust, respect, and a sense of belonging to their customers.
The manipulative nature of their words, use of music, and actions all play to convince us that we are doing the right thing, that which we ought to do. They use the power of decency to their advantage. Decency makes people feel valued, appreciated, and happier. It makes it easier for others to reciprocate it making the world a better place. Decency creates a safe space for everyone. Gives room for open and honest conversations that might be negative but with adequate explanations can yield better understanding.
The basic conversation qualities like listening and respecting different opinions all show a degree of decency. Conversations with everyone together, and the art of decency will make conversations easier.
2MAKES US BETTER PEOPLE
Being decent is not about the biggest tasks on earth, like saving the earth from aliens or giving away all your money. It's all about the small things that make us better people. The little deliberate actions of consideration in our daily lives. It's about taking a step further to help someone in need. It's about giving out your seat for an elderly individual, helping your classmate with a tough assignment, and being a friend that someone needs.
It's about being the best you can be. Stop being the robot who blocks everyone out, you don't care about helping a kid cross the road or sparing a coin for the homeless. Decency helps you know when you are being unkind and inconsiderate of others. Common courtesy will not kill you.
Decency is like a line drawn, where you should not pass, it's a tethering rope of common etiquette and integrity. It tells us to be more open-minded, not to look down upon others, and to be more impartial.
3IMPROVES OUR RELATIONSHIPS
Decency helps you realize when you're being jerks. This realization prompts us to do something about it, at least most people. The correction of mistakes for example being rude, inconsiderate, or harsh improves relationships with people around us. Asking for forgiveness and showing remorse for the wrong done is a decent act that cements relationships and shapes character.
Decency is about honesty and respect and brings out the best in a person which is honorable in the eyes of many. These qualities guarantee good relations at work, with peers, and with families. The environment we surround ourselves with tells a lot about the people we are. It seeps into all sectors of our lives.
Choose to do what you love and be with the people you love. This will make it easier to be a better person and nurture good relationships. It will also make your other relations better.
4SELF GRATIFICATION
Everyone wants to feel proud of themselves but most importantly you want to feel free of all personal judgment. The constant tug of war, whether we are doing right or wrong. Am I being a decent human being if I just want to be the first one? The guilt that we have to deal with every day.
Decency gives self-gratification we need. Everyone feels good when they do something good for other people. The smile on their faces and their eyes lighting up is all we need to feel purposeful and a sense of fulfillment. Being bad or immoral or indecent in this sense is not good for human gratification.
Being indecent in this sense is self disrespectful and it's unlikely for one to be happy without self-respect. Lying, stealing, or being immoral in general does not bring self-respect. It makes one guilty and unhappy in general. Being good, truly, lets us see the value in the world and appreciate it. It gives one the courage to pursue what one desire which brings self-gratification.

It's more like you receive what you give. If you depict that you respect yourself and take yourself seriously by being morally upright in your behaviors and attitudes, other people will do the same.
There is a lot to gain from decency. You gain a good reputation and respect from other people. People will always speak of the good deeds that you did to and for them. How you came through when they needed you. It builds trust and dependability. The natural law of preference is due to the proper way we behave. It's easy to prefer someone over another because of their.
Decency is all about morality, what is morally upright, your dignity being in check, knowing and regarding your worth, and your personality will not be tainted or tarnished.

Trust is earned over the cumulative experiences in our lives. The way we respond to others says a lot about the people we are. If we can be trusted or not. Decency exudes a trustworthy personality. People won't be afraid to entrust things in our hands because they are convinced it is safe with us because it's in your morality to be upright and have a high standard of integrity.
Try decency if you want to live a fulfilling and rewarding life.
